Proximity Reader

Proximity Reader.

Proximity Readers are useful in providing door access to a campus' handicapped community. AT&T CampusWide offers an interface with the proximity card recognition equipment manufactured by HID (Hughes Identification Devices). The interface enables a HID proximity card recognition device to communicate with the Sentry Security Reader electronics as if it were an auxiliary card slot. Access can be provided for a cardholder by swiping the Sentry Reader or by use of a proximity card. Either method activates the Sentry's electronics and unlocks the door for authorized cardholders.

The reader's sturdy, weatherproof design makes it reliable, indoors and outdoors. All electronics are housed in a single, easy-to-install package.

HID currently offers two types of PVC proximity cards, the ISOProx and the DuoProx, that meet the CR80 size requirements. The DuoProx card also features an ABA magnetic stripe for encoding cardholder information. The DuoProx is compatible with the DataCard® ImageCard II PLUS Video Imaging System, allowing the printing of unique variable information.
