Sentry Security Reader

Sentry Security Reader

AT&T CampusWide's Sentry Security Reader is a narrow, unobtrusive single-function card reader with a vertical continuous swipe-through style card slot. Used to control access at doors, elevators, parking lot gates, turnstiles, etc., the Sentry Security Reader is mounted outside of the secured area, while the control electronics are mounted within a secured area.

For locations that require higher security, a reader featuring a PIN pad is available. Proximity technology is supported with additional hardware. The Sentry Security Reader's rugged metal construction makes it tamper and weather resistant and enables it to withstand the abuse of high-traffic environments. Exterior-mounted readers can be further protected with an optional weather visor for card slot protection.

Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are provided to indicate if a card swipe is valid, denied, or must be reinserted/reread and if PIN entry is required. Based on the information in the database, the computer signals the reader to do one of three things:

There is no visual indication to signal an offline condition.

AT&T CampusWide's Sentry Security Reader provides protection against communications interruption by storing up to 12,000 transactions in an offline mode. When online communications are restored, the Sentry Security Reader, with no operator intervention, automatically uploads stored transactions upon going online. Door control schedule and other operating parameters are also downloaded and stored in non-volatile memory. A high-security option allows a 4,000 cardholder database along with plans, schedules and optional PINs to be downloaded for offline authorization. This option can be expanded up to 16,000 cardholders.
