About the DNS Resources Directory

DNSRD was started in 1994 to provide information about DNS to the Internet community. Since 1996 it has been consistently visited several thousand times daily. During March 2004, DNSRD generated over 4000 page impressions per day, with over 1900 unique client IP addresses daily. The top five pages were the DNSRD home page, What is DNS?, DNS Tools, DNS-related RFCs and DNS Documents.

DNSRD was for a long time hosted in South Africa, by Internet Solutions, but since most visitors have always been from around the world, the site moved to the USA in 2001 for improved average access speed.

The design of this site is deliberately kept simple. Pages should validate cleanly as HTML 3.2, with older pages validating as HTML 2.0. If you find a page that is unusable on your browser due to the way it has been designed, please let me know.

You may use my email address on these pages only to send personal email and enquiries. I do not appreciate being added to any mailing lists. I report unsolicited bulk email to the relevant network provider and also report abusers to various blacklists, such as RBL.
