- deals with BIND, the most common DNS name server implementation.
There is an extensive searchable
archive.
This list is also available as the comp.protocols.dns.bind
newsgroup.
An abbreviated annoucements-only list called
bind-announce is also available.
- bind-workers
- is the discussion forum for testers and contributors to new
versions of BIND.

- is the discussion forum of the
DNSOP
working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force.
DNSOP develops guidelines for the operation of name servers and the
administration of zone files.

- is the discussion forum of the
DNSEXT
working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force.
The mission of DNSEXT is to work on extending the protocols
relating to DNS.

- is the discussion forum of the
DHC
working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force.
DHC deals mostly with DHCP and related protocols, which sometimes relate
to DNS.

These mailing lists are no longer active, although archives may still
be available.
- dns-security
- was the discussion forum of the dnssec working group of the IETF.
This list was merged with namedroppers.
- domain-policy
- was a high-volume mailing list discussing
various domain policy issues. Carried some heated
commentary, but with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Domain-policy
was shut down in 2001 by VeriSign, and the archives were
removed.
- idn
- was the discussion forum of the
IDN
working group of the IETF, on internationalized domain names.

- ifwp
- was a list to discuss top level domains, associated with the IFWP
organisation, which was set up around the US Government
white paper back in 1998. Much of the discussion on this
list was critical of ICANN's control of the root zone.
