DVD2AVI & VFAPI Plug-In

• Get DVD2AVI.exe and DVD2AVI.vfp both and put them in the same directory.
  DVD2AVI.exe will register DVD2AVI VFAPI Plug-In to system at starting.
  If DVD2AVI.exe find DVD2AVI.vfp and register, you will see this menuitem is checked.
  Remember to start DVD2AVI.exe again after moving DVD2AVI.exe(vfp) to other folder.

• Another way. Put TMPGEnc.exe and DVD2AVI.vfp in the same directory.
  TMPGEnc will find DVD2AVI VFAPI Plug-In at starting also.
  However, this way allows TMPGEnc ONLY to utilize DVDAVI VFAPI Plug-In. It's NOT recommended.

• VFAPI Plug-Ins are registered in system registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VFPlugin
  Make sure that each VFAPI Plug-In is put in the same place as registry entry. Otherwise it won't work.
  That's why we must register VFAPI Plug-Ins again after moving them to other folders.

VFAPI Reader Codec Japanese 1.05 | English 1.05

• Run vifpset.bat to install necessary files to system directory.
  Although I am not sure, I think it is better to reboot after installation.

TMPGEnc & VFAPI Plug-In

• Get TMPGEnc.exe and TMPGEnc.vfp both and put them in the same directory.
  Option -> TMPGEnc.vfp is registered to VFAPI and make sure this menuitem is checked.
  Remember to start TMPGEnc.exe again after moving TMPGEnc.exe(vfp) to other folders.
  

The Priority of VFAPI Plug-In in TMPGEnc

• If TMPGEnc fails to read some kind of media files, make sure that responsible readers are right there.
  If TMPGEnc freezes when reading some kind of media files, try to modify the priorities of readers.
  On top of each reader, click right-mouse-button to modify the prioirty.
  

VirtualDub Frame Server Japanese

• Run AuxSetup.exe and push Install handler button.
  Although I am not sure, I think it is better to reboot after installation.
  

• This will make other applications recognize .VDR and treat it as normal AVI through frame server.
  Some softwares will not work in this way. Refer to \AVIProxy\readme.txt for futher information.
  However, AVI Proxy may come into conflict with the operation of VFAPI-AVI.
  Since TMPGEnc and AviUtl both work fine with .VDR, it's better to turn off AVI Proxy.

• I found that TMPGEnc B12c usually freezes when opening .VDR served from VirtualDub at the first time.
  However, TMPGEnc B12a & B12b are all right.
  If you encounter such kind of problem, rise up the priority of AVI VFW Compatibility Reader to top.
  Option -> Environmental Setting -> VFAPI Plug-In, click right-mouse-button to change the priority.

VobSub DVD Subtitling Filter

• VobSub is a video filter designed for both VirtualDub and AviUtl.
• For AviUtl, get VobSub.dll and rename as VobSub.auf and put it in the same folder with AviUtl.
• For VirtualDub, get VobSub.dll and rename as VobSub.vdf and put it into \PlugIns.
  

AviUtl & VFAPI Plug-In

• Get AviUtl.exe and AviUtl.vfp both and put them in the same directory.
• File -> General Settings -> Register VFAPI Plug-In (AviUtl.vfp) and make sure this menuitem is checked.
  Remember to start AviUtl.exe again after moving AviUtl.exe(vfp) to other folders.
  

Summary

• It's without saying that you must setup these softwares in a new system or after system reinstallation.
• If you encounter any problem with VFAPI or frame server, please check these steps and try again.
