Unauthorised Access UK 0636-708063 10pm-7am 3oo/12oo/24oo/96oo/14.4k Digital Exchange Self testing by Hacksaw of One Up Productions -------------------------------------------------------------- There are two types of digital exchange being used in the uk and the type you have have depends on which of the following two methods of self test is found to work. Digital Exchange System X ------------------------- This type uses a voice to guide you through the tests. To access dial 175 and wait upto 20 secs, after a while you should hear a womans voice saying "You are connected to( YOUR STD CODE AND TELEPHONE NO) start test".Replace the receiver ,the line will be tested and after about 20 secs the phone will ring .When you answer the result of the test is given. After the result you will hear "dial next test",at this point you can either hang up to end the tests or try the following tests. Dial tests ---------- Dial digit 1 at the "next test" prompt. then when you hear" start test". Loop disconnect telephones -dial 1 through to 0 in natural order. or MF telephones-dial 1 through to 9 then * 0 # . if ok you will hear "Dial testing ok,dial next test". SPM (subscriber private metering)tests --------------------------------------- SPM pulses are only present if the line has a rented payphone or a unit meter is being used to keep track of units. Dial 4 "Start test" 10 SPM pulses are sent down the line followed by number unobtainable tone followed by another 10 SPM pulses. System Y self tests ------------------- This sytem does not use a pre-recorded voice to announce results etc, instead different tones are used to indicate results. DT=Dial tone ET=Engaged tone FT=Failure tone 600hz at 260ms on/off then 1400hz at 260ms on/off. Dial 175 to access testing. listen for result. DT= test access gained ET= test access failed,(try again later) When DT is received replace handset and wait for ringback. Listen for results. DT=All tests ok on access. ET=Voltage failure on access but acceptable FT=Insulation resistance fault detected. After receiving DT from the above the following tests can be carried out Dial-2 Insulation resistance A-B(across the pair/line) When high tone heard replace the handset and await ringback. DT=Pass ET=Acceptable FT=Failed Dial-3 Test insulation resistance to Earth When high tone heard replace handset and wait for ringback. DT=Pass ET=Acceptable FT=Fail Dial-4 Test Insulation resistance to B or -40v When high tone heard replace receiver DT=Pass ET=Acceptable FT=Failed Dial-5 Test Insulation resistance A&B looped to Earth Replace receiver after high tone and wait for ringback DT=Pass ET=Acceptable FT=Fail Dial-7 Loop resistance test (resistance governed by length of the line) DT=Passed FT=Failed Dial-8 Keypad or dial testing If testing a rotary dial phone or loop disconnect dial a zero (0). If testing DTMF keypad dial 1 through 9 then * 0 # . DT=Dial/MF keypad tested ok FT=Dial/Keypad faulty (wrong count received) ET=Dial pulse fault Dial-9 test bell or tone caller. when high tone received replace the handset. DT=Bell ok (just rings back so always ok) Dial-10 Timed break recall test Press R or recall button DT=OK FT=Faulty N.B Because these tests only test at one instance in time they should only be used as an indication & not a definative test.
