In my three years here, I have watched our illegally elected president McPherson and his regime change this university from a utopian paradise to the depressing shithole it is today. I could compare him to Hitler, but I don't know which one of them I would be offending. His solution to every single problem is to blame it on students, alcohol or both. We have one of the worst math departments in the country. Math professors from other Michigan universities and community colleges laugh at us. Yet, despite all the problems, does McPherson take any steps to remedy the problems? No, he dismisses them as complaints from a bunch of drunk slacker students who don't want to do the work. After all, it should be up to us to take a foreign language course so we can understand what our Prof. is saying. Bit by bit he has corroded student rights, careful not to do anything too quick or too drastic and risk another Munn. Now he is threatening to excommunicate the Greeks if they don't see things his way. The sad thing is that I know the IFC will go dry. They have proven by recent deeds to care more about their resumes than the people they represent. At times like these, I am glad I never joined a fraternity. Perhaps the IFC should be reminded that traditionally, fraternities have fought to keep the administration out of their affairs. This ultimatum is nothing more than a cyanide capsule, spit or swallow? McPherson, you threatened to publicly denounce the Greek system. Well, this letter is a public denouncement of you. Your fascist agenda has destroyed this university. I see it, the alumni see it, the only one who doesn't is you and your followers. I say this, not only because it needs to be said, but because I no longer care about being a Spartan. At one time I loved this place so much I wanted to purposely stay an undergrad for 7 years. After Munn, a savage beating by the local blueshirts and the constant stream of bullshit, that spirit has died. There is not much to be proud of anymore. How can you scream "Go White, Go Green", when the university hates you. An atmosphere of intense fear and loathing permeates campus. You can see it, feel it everywhere. The MSU I knew and loved is dead. Matthew Harrison
