If you have an intel based PC (486 or greater), and you really want to apply some torque to the 'net, you really need to be running linux.

Linux is a flavor of Unix designed for the Intel x86 processor. Unix, of course, is what the entire Internet was built around. Some great things about linux include:
1.) It's free. (and far superior to other OS's for the PC)
2.) It has built in networking - all facets of TCP/IP <-- this is what you use on the internet, in general
3.) It is completely configurable. (You can rewrite the source, if you wish)
4.) It is a multi-user OS.
... there are many others, but you get the picture...

Disadvantages:
1.) It's not for the faint of mind. If you fall into this category, stick with aol and stay out of usenet. If not, spend a little time, get familiar with unix & the internet - after all, it IS the future...

That said, if you have a 486 or better PC, follow these links to download your free copy of linux
