As you may or may not know, Directv and News Datacom have filed a large lawsuit against the Satellite Watch News and myself personally in an effort to silence, once and for all, the Satellite Watch News.

After visiting with legal firms over the past three weeks, is has been determined that the cost for our defense in this matter may run to as much as $175,000. To many folks, defending a small niche publication like the Satellite Watch News at a cost of $175,000 would not be worth the effort and cash outlay.

However, those of us, who understand the consequences of large Corporate constutional abuse and the new case law that would be enacted should Directv and News Datacom be allowed to win, feel a good defense in this matter is worth every penny and more.

New case law could then be used in other cases Directv and News Datacom may file, and for many folks, would be the end of freedom of the press not only in America but world-wide in the satellite industry.

If Directv wins in this matter, they could, through the new case law, sue you and force you to close your Web Site.Or sue you for chatting about any products related to the Directv encryption system on the IRC's.

We need $15,000 to begin the legal battle. To date we have received $11,000.00 in legal fund donations. It is a good start, but much more will be needed to see the proceedings through to the end. So please, donate whatever you can.
