Summer:  The Summer cover was a bit of a departure for us, being redesigned to look just like a Wired cover instead.  We even labeled it as a "Special Spoofing Issue!" in much the same way that Spring 1996 had been called a "Special Red Box Issue" and, like its predecessor, it confused a fair amount of people who thought there would be a whole lot of articles about spoofing contained within.

The spoofing, of course, referred to the cover itself being a spoof.

In fact, it was also a spoof of a National Geographic cover since the entire photograph was an orangutan staring directly at us.  This was different for 2600 on many levels.
