As one can see, virtually any cablemodem subscriber can fire up a sniffer and acquire as much data as they want. The following screenshot of sniffit running under Linux and the X Window System shows a list of all network traffic, as well as an exploded view of an FTP session in progress. Pertinent information such as IP addresses, usernames and passwords has been censored.
