Very interesting. By precisely identical reasoning,
no competing with France should be using a GemPlus
7816 smartcard in anything they care about. French
government has the capacity and the leverage to make
whatever they want in same. So, for today's quiz,
ask yourself who makes the important parts of the
DoD Common Access Card and/or the NIST GSC-IS smart
card? For extra credit, name the country of origin
for the software involved in the US Passport program.
