Hi David,

I did some looking into this some years ago, when exploring "Learning IR
Remotes".

>From memory, the LANC protocol on the wires was the same codes as over IR,
just a different physical transport.

Anyway, as with many such things now, Internet Search Engines are your new
best friend.

Example: Put "Sony lanc protocol" into google.com, and explore first few
matches ...

Consider:

http://www3.nbnet.nb.ca/dmeed/sony_lan.html

or

http://www.boehmel.de/lanc.htm

and so on.

Regards,
Jim

Subject: [TSCM-L] LANC controller

I have a fairly outdated Sony Walkman digital tape recorder [Digital 8]
GV-D800E PAL. Thought I could use it in some future low value job.
The only way to operate it remotely is use of the LANC input via 2.5mm
socket on the side.
LANC control is something I have not had much to do with.
Anybody have any advice and a bit of tutorial on this type of control. I am
needing start stop only.
Thanks
