As Analogue receivers with digital IFs (see GNU radio) start to enter the m=
arket place, AND when there are TSCM specific applications written for them=
, you can expect that the OSCORs will drop even lower in price.=20
=20
I already have a production model 400 MHz - 4 GHz Direct Conversion receive=
r (with GNU-compatable APIs) in my lab, it has a 50 Mz wide IF that is bein=
g digitzed at 120 megasamples per second and provides continuous and conti=
guous capture of the entire spectrum. The direct conversion technology, by =
the late spring, is going to produce a 20 Mhz to 6 GHz receiver with a 10=
0 MHz wide digital IF and R&S FSL-like specifications.=20
=20
This test receiver in my lab, is faster than a BlackBird(even a Blackbird w=
ith the Thunder card), Minnow or an Avenger at a fraction of the price.
=20
The speed, resolution and amount of data such receivers collect will be ver=
y impressive, however those of us who like to "spin and grin" may still hav=
e to hang onto our OSCORs. :-)))
=20
With GNU radio interfaces, there's an opportunity for the software develope=
rs in the TSCM community to develop a TSCM - specific application thus avoi=
ding the high costs and proprietary applications of 'TSCM or SIGINT specifi=
c receivers. =20
=20
Some of the info and performance specs are posted on my web site.
