You got that right -- we were the County Seat (!)
and that meant 3,500 people in the town so we ranked
high enough to have *numbers*...

My grandmother and grandfather, on the other hand,
got a telephone fifteen years before they bothered
with electricity. Theirs was, if I remember right,
two short / pause / two short.
