I have to respectfully disagree. This has nothing to do with McAfee*
trying to sell software. Chinese attacks on govt systems are on the
rise and becoming more targeted. And it's not just govt systems
either. I've been in the infosec field for 9 years and have seen the
evidence. I did a stint in the infosec department of a DoD entity a
few years back. I was able to see, via their IDS, that attacks and
access attempts from Chinese IP addresses comprised a large percentage
of the over all attack numbers. There have been numerous reports from
security insiders over the past year about Chinese attacks on US
systems, some that even point back to the Chinese military. Believe
me, this is not FUD or scare tactics. Chinese spying IS on the rise,
and I believe we are going to see a lot more of it. And if the attempt
by Bain/Huawei to purchase 3Com doesn't scare you then you don't have
a pulse.

* Disclaimer: My conscience tells me that it would be the ethical
thing disclose the fact that I used to work for Network Associates in
their PGP labs, back when they owned PGP. I'm not harping McAfee
products here by defending their report. I don't even use McAfee
products, at home or at work.
