Considering the truck was probably run= ning between 65 and 75 mph, Id say to slice the bridge in half, the truck would = have to be travelling between130 mph and 145mph by merely looking at the photos.=

On another note, Id hate to be the adj= uster on that claim……………

An excavator weighing 8 tons is on top of a flatbed trailer and headi= ng
east on Interstate 70 near Hays, Kansas.  The extended shovel arm is
made of hardened steel and approaching a two lane overpass made of 5,000 psi concrete, reinforced with #6 steel bars spaced at 6 inches on center each way, each face.

Solve: When the shovel arm hits the overpass, how fast does he have to
be going to slice the bridge in half? (Assume no effect for headwind and no braking by the driver...)

Extra Credit: Solve for the time and distance required for the entire
rig to come to a complete stop after hitting the overpass at the speed
calculated above.
