Note to list members:
The 2050CA is a excellent piece of equipment, and when you add the
Periodic antenna with high sensitivity detector you can put together
one of the most sensitive microwave bug detectors available that will
find really high end microwave eavesdropping devices.
I would recommend mounting a small laser diode (or diodes) on the
axis of the SMA connectors so that you can see what you are pointing
at, and if possible use a line or fan generator that will help you
orient the antenna properly.
Some folks also like to add a small strobe light (actual old school
tube type, no an LED) to their kit and use a really quiet pair of
headphones and listen for the pulsating buzz that the 2050 picks up.
The 2050CA with a microwave adapter does a really sweet job for a
really reasonable price.
