This may be a bit OT, in which case, please feel free to redirect me to a
proper source.
I am looking for a very compact (tiny) RF tracking system for a commercial
concept. The closest i can find thus far is RFID solutions, but these
require too big of a battery for what is desired, and the passive and
semi-passive technologies i have read about so far do not go the distance
(literal) (1/2 mi. - 1 mi. with low-to-high interference). The concept
desired is to have a single "tracking device" which can decipher
approximately 3 to 12 unique "beacons" and hone-in/direct the "tracking
device" user to each one. So, the "tracking device" needs to be
handheld/mobile. The "beacons" need to be replaceable, so the "tracking
device" needs to have the ability to scan/learn, and assign unique ID's to
new "beacons". It probably already exists, in several different forms,
but if the system has to be developed, that may be acceptable also.
Anyhow, my question, to this list, is to whom should i talk with to find
out more about this type of technology? I know that i could contact some
authors of various texts which i have read, and intend to do so, but i am
very confident that there are several entities on this list that know
people, or are people, who have a very high understanding of small/tiny RF
tracking technologies, and i simply want to talk with them/you, at this
point.
Any assistance is appreciated! TIA!
