Subject: R-20 Hunt Secret Files (plea for pencils)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Here is the Icom R-20 .icf file that several list members have used to
find bugs that would not reveal themselves in any other way.
The secret to using this file is to dump it into an R-20, enable all
banks, and let the radio scan through all channels as listed in the
file. Then place the radio in (non-scan) manual mode, and manually
change the channels one at a time, with a pause of at least 3-5 seconds
between each so that the radio can tune-up the internal filters for
maximum sensitivity. The manual tuning really does not take as long as
you might think, and of course this should be done with the squelch open
so that you can hear the noise... heh, or lack thereof {#include
wickedGrin.c}.
A few folks have found extraordinarily low powered bugs using this file
and the 5-second manual tune method, that could not be found with any
other piece of equipment.
Some TSCM people have even gone so far as to purchase six or more R-20's
just to drop this file onto, and to assign a different length of antenna
to each of them (hint: the antenna is one of the most important parts of
the usage). One firm told me that they after they got some stunning
results from using this file that they ran out and purchased over a
dozen R-20's that they could stuff into a briefcase just to leave
running during a sweep.

I have also had several government people express serious hatred of this
file, and serious hatred of me as the author as all of their (usually
illegally used to violate the law) bugs and secret bug frequencies were
found in this file. I have several similar files that
Donations of course happily accepted in the form of cash (ahem, clear
throat), checks, money orders, gold coins, introductions to cute
daughters (of legal age and willing to pose as models for life
drawings), Derwent 9B and 4B grade Graphic Pencils (hint-hint), or
Derwent 72 color or Prismacolor 96 pencil colored wooden box set
(hint-hint-hint).
Your mileage may vary,
