Iran made is clear that their primary purpose of the their nuclear weapons program was strictly offense in nature, and that once they has sufficient arms that they woudl wipe Israel off the face of the Earth (as well as parts of Italy), and cleanse the region of all U.S Influence. But of course this could merely be rhetoric from the mullahs and political leaders.
