day/night cameras and IR cameras it's not the same thing.
d/n cams are IR sensitive, because they have a filter to switch from color
to black/white, that is the only mode that is IR sensitive, and you must add
IR projectors to your system, that will depend of other factors (angle,
distance, ...). And of course the right lense is needed.

Cameras that don't need infrared illuminators - so we can call them IR
cameras - is a complete diferent story. Take as an example the TVIS camera
from Flir systems, that is designed to be used with Pelco outdoor housings.
Those cameras use microbolometer infrared sensor technology (and not a
simple switch IR filter for b/w mode).
