I would like to offer list members a bit of TSCM survival wisdom
relative to contact lists and marketing efforts.
At all times you should maintain and groom a list of *** AT LEAST ***
5000 contacts, involving at least 1000 companies within 150 miles of
your office. If you are actually in a major city, or jsut outside of
one then reduce this radius to only 50 miles based on the geographic
center of the major city. Either way, it is critical to your survival
to always maintain a list of at least 1000 companies, with at least 5
or 6 people at each company.
Each person on you list should receive *** ONE *** packet of
marketing material from you each one to two years. If there is a
major "bug find" in the news then you should squirt a copy of the
article to everybody on your list, but do not do this more than 4 times a year.
The top people on the list should be the CEO, COB, CLO, VP,
Controller, head of purchasing, facility manager, and the sr.
telcom/IT person. On a side bet you can also research who is on the
board of directors (other than those listed above), and send them
marketing materials about 6 weeks back from the end of their fiscal
year. Basically, you want a list of everybody who sits in the
C-Suite, including the admin. assistants, and anybody who visits the
C-Suite on a regular basis.
The key is to keep your list neat and up to date, and to give
yourself about 4 hours per week to maintain it.
