Re: [TSCM-L] Al Qaeda Bugging Case Defines Election Stakes
"and how the nation would be at the mercy of terrorists"
For every presidential order and court case cited, there is
a corresponding version of this. It is an obligatory premise
for national security to trump everything the US was founded
to get away from: overweaning power of the executive forever
justifed by threats to the state, the nation, "our way of life."
Keep in mind the state is not the same as the nation and
our way of life is not monolithic and none of these are as
comprehensive as the people who live in a piece of the
planet. State, nation and way of life (and its variations) are
fictional constructs devised to place a few people above
the people in general.
Whenever an argument is made that the presidency (or
congress or the judiciary) is diminished watch out for a resurgence
of retro-royal or papal cabals at work to steal the cream of the
people's hard earnings by exploiting gullibility about threats
to humongously expensive castles in the sand.
All governments are rackets, all national security is a scam,
way too vague to be believed except by hucksters and
shamans of secrecy.
