Technical Spec and Pricing Survey

Technical training is a bit of a sensitive topic, and I am leaning on
not selling or leasing it to anybody unless they get fully trained on it
first, and they can demonstrate good competency with the unit. You would
of course have to be skilled with TSCM in order to attend the course on
the unit, and to learn TSCM you would of course have to be skilled in
basic electronics.

Assuming that the system is fully self contained, briefcase sized or
smaller, AND it has fully automated frequency coverage from 10 Hz to 40
GHz with integrated antennas:

What should a reasonable lease price be for a year, and would you prefer
to lease the unit in order to keep your price way down.

Do you have any problem with the system containing a database of bugging
devices and targeting these confirmed frequency tables before initiating
a spectrum sweep, and do you want or need this database to be editable
by the user?

Reasonable sales price if you prefer not to lease? Hint: It is going to
cost way less then a microwave spectrum analyzer, and likely cost a
fraction of any other TSCM system currently on the market.

Fully automated function, or quasi automated operation.

Is it OK if the basic operation is completely stand alone so that no
external computer is needed, and that the external computer merely acts
as a display device or config editor.

ANy problems giving it an IP address and making it act as a web server
so that you can plug it into an Internet connection of control it
remotely, or reach out to it from across the building or across the
world and twirl the knobs?

How do you feel about demodulation of potential threats during sweeps as
opposed to detecting and cataloging signals quietly in a covert fashion
and then performing actual testing of the suspect signal only after
manual intervention to trigger active testing?

How much for TSCM training, and do you think that training on the unit
should be free if you are actually purchasing, and if not how much do
you think should be charged?

How much weight or size should be allocated to a single case, assuming
that the case will be small enough to be considered carry-on baggage for
air travel. If weight or size becomes an issue with the accessories, it
is OK to place these into a second support case to keep the weight of
the main unit reduced?

Do you think that it is OK to not sell to someone if that person has no
actual training on the unit?

Should TSCM training be separate from actual equipment training? Why,
why not?

Able to scan 3 GHz of spectrum 200 times a second or faster, and capable
of scanning the entire 40 GHz range at least 50 times a second or faster
(likely much faster). If this is too slow, how fast do you think it
should be?

Do you see any problems with backend processing of the signals being
fully digital so that you convert the spectrum down into 230 MHz wide
chunks at a time, and digitally extract everything from out of the noise
floor all at the same time instead of picking out signals one at a time
as is commonly done?

How about a series of handheld probes and adapters that you can use to
get really close to the bug instead of moving the main unit around to
room or carrying it around cradled in your arms.

Do you have any issues with it being both a tuned detection system, but
also having a wide-band detector system built in so that it will be
virtually impossible to hide any kind of signal burst, ODFM, spread
spectrum, or any other kind of covert signals?

How about making it about the size of a larger laptop so that you can
get four of them into a larger carry-on rolling style briefcase?

If this is a not-for -export product will that cause you great grief,
and will restricting its sales to U.S. Citizens and U.S. Based
Corporations cause a problem, or do you think there should be a U.S.
based production facility, and then a second mirror facility in Taiwan
or Australia to build the systems for the non-U.S. shipments?

Do you have any problem purchasing equipment from a manufacturing
facility that is not in bed with the government?

Any problem flying in to Boston for all training, with the training only
being offered in Boston?

Do you feel that the training should be close to the airport, or would
you feel comfortable traveling under an hour away from the airport for
training?

Either post a response to the list, or post to me privately.

Thank you,

-jma
