It's possible that they're both (mostly) telling the truth.

If that data was stolen from the company's machine, and the FBI was
investigating the hack, that the FBI investigator had copies of the
stolen data from the victim or a site run by the attackers, and the
Anons stole the copy from the FBI's box, without knowing the context.
