Well since I left for mobilization training in Octobter of last year for Iraq this is the only group I still get messages from. Thanks for reminding why. Here I am somewhere about in the Anbar province of Iraq not really doing the job my first 7 years in the National Guard (1/2 of which were in active service) trained me for as an Infantryman. Instead day to day I run convoys back forth from this place to that place rolling along in our armored humvees which help but don't full proof against anything especially as the gunner in the vehicle.
It amazes me the difference in peoples attitudes from town to town are like. In some they smile and wave and come out to watch us pass knowing that for a short time nobody in the world is going to harm them. In some towns you get angry stares and as one close quarters combat instructor describes "A Feeling of Murderous Intent." I will say happily that the good here
far outweighs the bad in what is one of the worst provinces in Iraq.
I am honest in that I am here because it was a nice chance for me to gain some personal freedom for when I return and another chance at my life but I still haven't forgot the freedoms of others both in my country and the here in Iraq. The Iraqi interps. we talk to tell of about the past on rare occasion and by in large the people feel they are much better off now but life is still hard after 30 years of war and opression. I think this whole thing could turn out well in the end and I hope it does for them.
Well it seems I'm down to 2 minutes of my 30 total for a computer so I gotta keep this short and say good bye and god bless to people of TSCM and I'll drop in and say hello from time to time when I can. Soon I take my 2 week leave back to Iowa and my family farm will update you guys on what happens out on the ground here
then. Think they may not like it if I do it here ;)

Andy,
I don't want to be rude, but your comment demands a response.
#1: Jim's the list owner, so he can post whatever he deems appropriate.
#2: If your country was attacked, and three thousand innocent men,
women and childern murdered in cold blood, you might feel differently.
#3: If you had ever served in the United States military, you would
feel differently.
#4: If your country was at war with an enemy who wanted to exterminate
the free world, you might feel differently.
Best regards.
