It would appear that what I'm exposed to is consid= erably different, longer, heavier, high pressure rating for blast impact.
Of these the walls, floors and ceilings are rather= like that of false floors that we used to use in large computer rooms.
Cost is vastly different.
The difference may be due to the API RP-752 stipul= ations that are common to the petrochemical industry.

Thanks for the reference.

Subject: [TSCM-L] Re: blast resistant= modular buildings for security and safe haven purposes

The most frequently used "Blast resistant modular buildings"= is the common 20 foot steel shipping container that gets lined up, welded toge= ther, covered with tarps or landscaping cloth and covered with a berm.

The= containers cost around $500 in most shipping ports in their original state,= and after painting run $1500 to $2000. The 40 footers are only slightly more mo= ney, but they are really a pain-in-the-neck to transport and stack and are very= difficult to get rid of. If you can find someone who has a few nasty ones s= uch as one that had a reefer (refrigeration) unit go bad the shipping company w= ill often pay you to haul the smelly container away after they yank the reefer= module.

Most micro-factories, and micro-server farms are based aroun= d the 20 foot containers, not the 40 footers.

The 20 foot containers can= usually be loaded and unloaded by the truck that deliverers them (single operator), but the 40 footers usually need extra equipment. You can handle = two 20 footers on the same size truck as the 40 footers, but the 20's give you = much more flexibility.

If you can get used S series equipment shelter tha= t use the external dollies you can use them as well, but the curiously the old military equipment shelters are inferior to the steel shipping containers, = and are less desirable for what you are seeking to do.

My preference is = to take a once used 20 foot steel shipping container and use those welded onto= a straight truck chassis.

I'm explori= ng avenues of interest regarding "Blast resistant modular buildings".

My interest today is to explore the ne= ed of these buildings for safe havens and security purposes.

I am associated with multiple manufact= urers of these customized buildings.

The wall thickness varies pending the blast pressure (bullet penetration size= prevention in certain apps) and generally ranges from 1/4" to 1/2" thick= metal.

These units are= distributed globally and are heavily on/off shore in the petrochemical environment.

Internall= y they can be configured to satisfy the simple need of showering or to the lates= t of computerization.

Pendi= ng normal business credit issues the units can be outright purchased or can be rent= ed making it easy for middle management to satisfy the needs of safety or security.

Commonly the= units are transported via tractor trailer (30' to 40'

each building) or can be rigged with a= xles so that it can function as a mobile command center.

Multiples of the buildings can be stac= ked together to create multi-level &/or multi-room field offices.

These are not= in any way lightweight designs that will blow apart in a low order hurricane or= sustain damage by common household catastrophe means.

Any feedback is appreciated.
