My favorite case was an AF OSI agent (a CTTA) who had just picked up
a shipment of Top Secret COMSEC keying materials while driving his
POV. Instead of driving directly from the communications building to
his office he decided to stop and quench his thirst and grab a
sandwich. He parked his vehicle in the wrong place, and quenched his
thirst for a lot longer than it took for the vehicle to be towed away.
Someone recognized the canvas bag at the impound lot, and they called
the base communications hut for the COMSEC manager to have someone
come pick it up. It was several hours later that the OSI agent left
the watering hole, couldn't find his car and decided to walk home.
Later that night he had an unpleasant knock at the door, and got to
see what a three star general looks like when smoke billows out of his ears.
I understand that it got ugly as the audit of their office then
turned up a number of serious irregularities of a similar nature, but
great snickering was heard deep in the bowels of the COMSEC vaults.
