A TSCM person frequently has to deal with wiring or electrical
closets that are locked, phone rooms that are on the wrong core, and
utilities areas that nobody can seem to find the keys to. Credenza's
and cabinets in board rooms are often locked, the AV closet may be on
a key that one the CEO's admin has, but who can not be located.

I have seen more then a few cases where wires I was tracing vanished
into a locked closet that wasn't on anybodies blueprints, or wires
terminated into a locked box that nobody knew about, or the CEO tells
the on-site electrician to provide him with a set of keys the before
he leaves for the weekend only to be given the wrong keys.

It is kind of difficult to inspect an on-site wire that you can't get
access to both ends of.

PBX systems and voice mail systems are often locked, demarc boxes
often locked, multiplexors often loose keys, and network server racks
are always fun to find the keys for.

I abhor the use of pry-bays and ice-picks to gain access and use them
only as a tool-of-last-resort.
