I have started a Yahoo-group on the Icom R1500

Being interested in both that scanner and TSCM i will try to
promote interest in using the scanner for TSCM purposes.

It looks promising...a scanning speed of more then 60 ch/sec
is achieve-able, i suppose this can be increased even more
with some simple (hardware) modifications and software-tweaking.

An interesting feature seems to be the new additional "RF-Squelch"
instead of only a "Noise-Squelch"...this will make it suitable to
search
for short-duration (pulses),noise-like
signals,wideband-signals,digital-signals
hopping signals,and even spread-spectrum signals...with only a
Noise-Squelch your scanner would skip on such types of signals.

A short user-manual is already available in the files-section of that
group
