Resolutions Version 5.2.0.861 CD Contents
Resolutions
Pro v5.2.0.861 employs Microsoft™ Installer (Windows Installer) deployment
systems. The Installation CD contains
the files required to install Resolutions Pro v5.2.0.861 and update the
firmware of the Agilent 600-IR series FT-IR spectrometers. There are three
discs to install which should be installed in order. See installation
instructions below before installing.

Resolutions Pro software installation will consist of three CDs.
Imaging Resolutions
Pro software will consist of four CDs.
What's New in Version 5.2.0.861?
- Support for “Type B” Focal Plane
Array (FPA) detectors. These are characterized by three cables coming out of
the FPA back panel. This is only supported under Windows 7 (32bit)
Support for existing “Type
A” FPAs, with two cables out the rear of the FPA will be maintained. Type B FPA
imaging systems will require a new “imaging drivers” CD to be installed prior
to the installation of Resolutions Pro. The installation for “Type A” FPAs will
remain unchanged and by supported under both XP (SP3, 32bit) and Windows 7
(32bit)
- Support for the operation of
Resolutions Pro (Imaging excluded) in restricted user modes. Imaging is onl supported under Administrator mode.
Users upgrading from version 5.0
will also observe:
-Rebranded
Some
components of the Resolutions Pro software have been rebranded to the new
Agilent format.
-Source Life
Firmware
enhancements to improve source life
-Compatibilty
Compatible
with Windows 7 (32bit) and XP (SP3, 32bit) operating systems .
Imaging with Type A FPAs is supported under XP (SP3,
32bit) and Windows 7 (32bit) and Imaging with Type B FPAs is supported only
under Windows 7 (SP3, 32bit).
-Compatible
with earlier models
Compatible with FTS-7000(e), 4100, 3600, 3100, 2000,
1000, 800 instruments. Check with your local Agilent office for compatibility
with earlier models
-Step scan
Support for
680-IR with step scan capability for modules such as us and ns-Time Resolved
Spectroscopy, Photoacoustic Spectroscopy, Polymer
Stretcher and PEM-IRRAS
-Dual A/D
mode
For
instruments with dual A/D, the ability to monitor two data channels
simultaneously in rapid scan mode for applications such as PEM-IRRAS.
-Expanded
trigger functionality
Trigger In
and Trigger Out capability in both Rapid and Kinetics scan modes enabling
coupling with external hardware such as LC, GC, TGA.
- Source
sleep mode
User definable sleep mode to help extend source
lifetime.

Users upgrading from version 4.0 or
4.1 will also observe:
-Merged
Resolutions and Resolutions Pro. The
Resolutions and Resolutions Pro software packages have been merged into a
single comprehensive package; Resolutions Pro.
The user interface has been simplified and improved to ensure that
features, previously unique to Resolutions, are now available in the new
Resolutions Pro.
-New
protocol for Software Registration
The
Resolutions Pro v5.2 software must be registered online (or offline via web
portal) within 60 days of installation or it will stop running. The imaging
component of Resolutions Pro v5.2, if installed, must be registered
immediately.
-New Method
Editor
A new Method
Editor interface replaces the previous Collection > Scan (or Collect >
Rapid Scan) dialogs and includes pre-loaded sample methods for standard
transmission, ATR, high resolution, NIR and microscope collects.
-Enhanced
Main User Interface
The user
interface has been significantly enhanced and its layout improved.
-Accessory
and Component Recognition
Agilent 600
series FTIR users will be able to take advantage of sample compartment
accessory recognition and component recognition. These features assist and simplify
spectrometer setup and help ensure the stored method requirements match the
specific hardware configuration of the system.
-Performance
Tests
A new
software interface under Collect > Performance Test allows automated
collection of routine instrument performance tests.
-New
Languages
Software
supports English, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, French and German
languages.
-KnowItAll library
Direct searching of Bio-Rad KnowItAll and
ST-Japan libraries. Note: Resolutions Pro Search is not supported in
double byte languages, eg., Japanese and Chinese.
Agilent
Resolutions Pro Version 5.2 is supported on Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP
2) and Windows 7 operating systems only. All operating systems must be 32-bit
ONLY. This software is not supported under earlier operating systems such as
the Windows 2000 platform, Windows 98, Me, or NT. If you currently have one of these operating
systems installed on your computer you must upgrade to Windows XP, Vista or
Windows 7 before running this software.
Installing/Upgrading
to Resolutions Pro 5.2
Before you
can upgrade to Resolutions Pro 5.2 you need to know:
1. What version of Windows you are
running,
2. The FTIR software version you are
currently using, and
3. The FTIR hardware you are using.

find out what version of Windows you are running:
1. Right-click on the computer icon on
the desktop.
2. Select Properties from the menu. The General
tab page should be active. The operating system is given directly under "System".
>>>To
find out what release of FTIR Software you are running:
1. Start Resolutions Pro.
2. Select Help/About Resolutions Pro. The splash screen shows the release
number.
>>>To
find out what FTIR hardware you are using;
1. Refer to the model label on the
front of the FTIR spectrometer.

4.1 or. It is important these instructions are followed carefully.
Other
applications included
The
following Resolutions Pro tools can be run by selecting Start > Programs > Agilent Resolutions > "Program Name",
or run from within the menus of Resolutions Pro;
Autosampler: Software
to support the microscope stage autosampler.
Average: Calculates the average of selected spectra
in a document.
Convert: Converts a Multispectral document (.bsp) to JCAMP, comma separated value (csv),
GRAMS, or Bio-Rad Sadtler SearchMaster
formats.
EasyID: Simple software for collection and
comparison of IR data used in a Quality Control environment. NOTE: this tool
must be purchased separately from Resolutions Pro.
Imaging
Kinetics: Collects a set of Image Data
files at specified time intervals.
SNIFTIRS: Collects interleaved scans and co-adds
blocks of data for electrochemical experiments.
Simple FTIR: Reduced User Interface with only basic
controls; Sample Collect, Open and Print.
Administrator may setup and manage methods used.
The
following Resolutions Pro tool can be run by selecting File > Run from within Resolutions Pro:
RMS Noise: Calculates Root Mean Square Noise for
displayed spectra within a user defined range.
