35688CU #201 Ordering Instructions

Following is a complete list of ordering instructions for customers
who want to convert their E3238 Signals Development System from HP-UX
to NT 4.0 by ordering the 35688CU with option 201.

We strive to provide the highest level of service to the customer,
and we need your help with the following items. Please inform us if
you DO NOT want us to wait for your response on item #4. No response
means the customer will need to set their own hardware configuration 
(edit e3238s.cfg file) on the new NT controller instead receiving it
pre-configured from the factory.


1.  Please reference the Agilent sales order number on your response
    when the information below is submitted.


2.  Please provide the license number of the existing HP-UX 35688
    software. A requirement for converting the customer's software 
    from HP-UX to NT is that they must return their HP-UX 
    license certificate before their NT order can ship. License 
    certificates should be returned to:

3.  Customers converting to NT will need the following NT hardware. 
    Special instructions should state "Convert existing E3238 system
    to NT." The order for the NT conversion should contain:

       Item 0100 - E3238S
       Item 0101 - 35688CU with opt 201
       Item 0102 - E9851A with opt 001 (override supply div. to A100)
       Item 0103 - SOUNDCRD
       Item 0104 - UIKITPC with localization option


4.  Please send an email with the above information AND ATTACH the
    customer's active e3238s.cfg file.  Send this email to:
    E3238_SWL@agilent.com

    More info on #4:  Since this is an NT conversion, there is an
    assumption that all of the existing system hardware will be
    reused, with the exception of the HP-UX controller with the 
    soundcard, and the user interface kit (keyboard and mouse). 
    Note that the only supported controllers for this conversion 
    are the E9850A or E9851A with #001.

    To enhance customer satisfaction, Order Fulfillment is willing 
    to do as much toward factory integration of the NT software as 
    possible by installing it onto the controller.  

    In order for the 35688C software to operate properly, it must be
    configured to match the hardware in the system.  Since we have no
    control over the customer's current E3238S system hardware, we 
    cannot properly configure the new NT software for that hardware 
    unless we ask that a specific text file from the existing system 
    be supplied so that OF can apply the correct configuration 
    parameters to the system during the software installation.

    The primary operator of the E3238S system may be best able to 
    locate the active e3238s.cfg.  There are several locations where
    this file may be, depending on the operating system.  On an HP-UX
    10.2 system, the file may be /opt/e3238s/e3238s.cfg, 
    or /home/vxi/e3238s.cfg. 

    This request is intended to provide an extra level of service to
    the customer by providing Agilent with enough information to 
    provide a drop-in replacement for the HP-UX controller. Without 
    this information, the software will be loaded, but setting the 
    hardware configuration in C:\E3238S\e3238s.cfg on the new 
    controller will be left up to the user.
