THE FIRMWARE IN THIS DIRECTORY IS DATED 7-12-1999 (14:54) The files in this directory can be used to download the latest firmware for your HP E1437A. This process only works for 32 bit window evironments (Win95,WinNT) and HP-UX 10.x. If you have Win 3.1 then please contact the appropriate Hewlett-Packard support personnel or return you E1437A to Hewlett Packard for new firmware. ======================================================================= INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS 32 BIT OPERATING SYSTEMS (Win95 & WinNT): ======================================================================= The file E1437DLD.DLD is the firmware itself. The file E1437DLD.EXE is a program that will download the firmware bits to the HP E1437A. If you already have the download program on your pc, then you only need the E1437DLD.DLD file. These instructions assume that your pc does not have the download program: 1. Download E1437DLD.DLD and E1437DLD.EXE to a temporary directory on your pc. (C:\Temp) 2. Make sure you have the E1437 and the VXI mainframe attached to your computer. Either by an embedded controler, MXI or HP-IB slot zero controller. You will also need the I/O libraries so that you have commnication between your computer and the E1437. 3. In File Manager or Windows Explorer, double-click on E1437DLD.EXE and follow the installation instructions. ======================================================================= INSTRUCTIONS FOR HP-UX 10.X OPERATING SYSTEMS : ======================================================================= The file e1437_fw.dat is the firmware and the file update_e1437_fw is a program that will download the firmware bits to the HP E1437A. If you already have the download program, then you only need the e1437_fw.dat file. These instructions assume that you does not have the download program: 1. Download e1437_fw.dat and update_e1437_fw to a temporary directory on your system. (/tmp) 2. Make sure you have the E1437 and the VXI mainframe attached to your system. At the HP-UX command prompt enter the following commands: a. cd /tmp b. ./update_e1437_fw Make sure the version date that is returned matches the version of the firmware.
