Keyword: 35900 Control

One-line Description:

cannot start two instruments using the two channels of one ADC at the same time

Problem:
When two instruments are configured that use channel A and channel B of the same ADC converter, respectively, the two instruments cannot be running at the same time. When the second instrument is started, both ChemStation instruments will freeze and can no longer be operated.
Temporary Solution:
The two instruments will work when using only one of the instruments at a time.

KPR#: 1622    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: 6890 Control

One-line Description:

Sequence continues while GC temperature is not ready

Problem:
When running a sequence where consecutive runs use the same method using the ALS on a data system containing 6890 driver version 6.10.027 or earlier, the data system may proceed to start a new run before the GC has equilibrated after the conclusion of the previous run. This is more likely if the method contains a post run period of sufficient length that the GC equilibrates to the post-run conditions and the data system has completed data analysis well before the end of the post-run period.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Patch available for RC.NET GC driver revision 6.10 [027] for B.04.03 DSP1[54]. Fiixed in C.01.03

Keyword: 7890A Control

One-line Description:

Must restart data system for barcode reader availability change (7890A)

Problem:
If the presence of the barcode reader is changed while the data system is connected to a 7890A, the availability of barcode options in the Sequence Parameters screen does not change until the data system is restarted.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fixed in revision C.01.03. Fiixed in C.01.03

KPR#: 1587    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: CE Control

One-line Description:

The VialTable check does not occur during the startup of the CE ChemSation

Problem:
During the startup of the CE ChemStation, the System VialTable is not loaded therefore when a method is loaded conflict checks with the method vialtable is not performed.
Temporary Solution:
If you are using an Agilent 1600 Capillary Electrophoresis instrument, the following post installations steps are required.

1. Insert the OpenLAB CDS Disk 6
2. Open the folder called \Release Updates\OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition\CE\
3. Copy the file HPCE.MAC to the folder \CE\
Note> The default chemStation path is c:\Chem32

It's recommended to create a backup copy of the original HPCE.MAC before replacing it.
Fix Information:
This issue is resolved in the software revision C.01.02

KPR#: 1678    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: Data Analysis , Navigation Table

One-line Description:

Wrong method displayed in navigation table after partial reprocessing

Problem:
When a sequence is partially reprocessed with a new method, the Navigation Table does not reflect the changed method. The changed method will only be displayed immediately after reprocessing, but not when loading the sequence set into the Navigation Table again at a later point in time. This implies that also the old sequence method is loaded when loading the affected runs with the option "use sequence method".

Reprocessing of the complete sequence is not affected by this issue.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
 Fixed in C.01.03.

KPR#: 1655    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: Easy Sequence

One-line Description:

Easy Sequences can end up in unexpected locations

Problem:
Sequences that have been added to the queue may end up in an unexpected location on disk, when the Easy Sequence file name contains the string ".es".
The expected file name ***.es.es was not handled correctly.
Temporary Solution:
When saving an *.es file, do not include .es in the file name. The extension .es will be appended automatically.
Fix Information:
Fixed in revision C.01.03, by not allowing .es in an Easy Sequence file name.

KPR#: 1629    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: ECM Integration/OpenLab Option

One-line Description:

Data not transferred to ECM after resuming the queue in the ChemStation

Problem:
When a Sequence or Single Injection Run cannot be transferred to the OpenLAB ECM
storage, the transfer process is paused and an error message is displayed in the
Queue Management tool for the first item in the queue.
Users with the necessary privilege can start the Queue Management tool and resume
the transfer process. After a successful transfer the item is removed from the
queue otherwise it remains in the queue.

We discovered that items with the following error message “Object Reference not set
to an instance of an object” appear to the end user as being transferred after
resuming the queue but they are in fact deleted from the queue although the transfer
is failing again.
Subsequent reprocess of such sequence(s) will not pause the queue and will not be
transferred to the OpenLAB ECM storage.

If the option "Cleanup Data on Shutdown" is selected, the local copy of the data will
also be deleted when shutting down the ChemStation.
In such a case, the data is lost and can't be recovered.

The error “Object Reference not set to an instance of an object” can be caused
among others by:

  • Incorrectly configuring the ECM Authentication in the OpenLAB Control Panel
  • Manually appending text at the end of the Server string in Transfer Settings
    of the ECM Preferences
  • Using “Tokens” (Instrument Name, Instrument No, Operator or Computer Name)
for the Drawer and/or Folder or manually typing the Drawer and Folder in
the Transfer Settings and not having the privilege to add folders in OpenLAB ECM.
  • Users having a project role in OpenLAB Control Panel where the privilege
“Save to ECM” is not granted.
  • Selecting in Sequence Parameters a Remote Data Path having a “/” in the name
   (e.g. 2011/07)
Temporary Solution:
As an immediate action and until a solution is available, we recommend on all
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition systems (Workstations, Networked Workstations and AIC’s)
connected to ECM to:

  • Start the ChemStation Administration tool
(Start | Programs | Agilent Technologies | OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition)
  • Select the option “Use these settings for all Instances on this computer
  • DO NOT select any of the checkboxes in the Automatic Data Transfer Settings
and in the Transfer Management Settings.
  • Select the two checkboxes in the Audit Trail section

This will disable the transfer to ECM for all Instruments configured in the computer.
Fix Information:
A solution for the defect is currently being worked on. The fix will be made available
as soon as possible.

KPR#: 1683    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: GC ACQ

One-line Description:

OpenLab CDS, C.01.02, 7820A run continues when STOP on 7820A is pressed

Problem:
A manual injection is done and if the STOP on the 7820A front panel is selected, the GC stops (and resets the initial GC settings) but the chemstation continues.

When the STOP button is pushed on the 7820A, the "current logbook" reports the end of run correctly, and reports the system is running data analysis but does not go into Data Analysis right away.

If this is a 30 minute run, and the STOP button is pressed on the 7820A after 10 minutes, AND YOU WAIT 20 more minutes until the Chemstation gets to the end of the run, a report is generated.

The system appears to hang up waiting on the expected run time.
Temporary Solution:
Workaround is to use STOP run from the software.

KPR#: 821    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: Integration

One-line Description:

Determination of tangent point on the tailing part of the peak

Problem:
In the tailing part of a peak, it may occur that the inflection point (needed for the calculation of the tangent peak width) is not correctly determined. The problem results from the algorithm applied to find the inflection point: It is done by the first/second derivate of the peak shape but at the tail of the peak, the derivates of the "noise" on the signal may have about the same value as the tail it self. As the calculation looks for the minimum/maximum value of the second derivative, a wrong point may be identified for the inflection point.
Temporary Solution:
n/a
Fix Information:
Fiixed in C.01.03

KPR#: 1580    Product: Chemstation     ChemStation (G2070BA)    n/a

Keyword: Integration

One-line Description:

Peak areas may be calculated incorrectly when using "New Exponential" as tangent skim mode

Problem:
When using "New Exponential" as tangent skim mode, incorrect areas may be calculated in case of tangent-skimmed peaks. In these cases the tangent-skimmed peak will not be integrated at all, while the main peak is reported with an area that is too large. The defect is most pronounced when the tangent-skimmed peak is very small.

The likelihood of being impacted by this issue also decreases substantially with increasing number of data points collected per peak. If detector settings are chosen according to the recommendations in the ChemStation on-line help (data rate, detector peak width) the peaks are defined by 15+ data points and data collected with these methods are not affected by this issue.
The settings of the instrument specific default methods (DEF_LC.M, DEF_GC.M) take care of this, with the exception of older instrument hardware (e.g. GC 5890, 5 Hz default sampling rate), high data volumes (LC/MSD, full scan mode), and fast chromatography techniques (Fast GC, LC Rapid Resolution).
The high information density produced by these detection techniques always require adjustment of the default detector sampling rates according to the recommendations in the ChemStation on-line help.
Temporary Solution:
Do not use "New Exponential" tangent skim mode, but choose a different mode.
Fix Information:
Point patches for software revision C.01.01, B.04.03 and B.04.02 are available

Keyword: Logbook

One-line Description:

LC/MS ChemStation cannot open Logbook files

Problem:
Intermittently, the LC/MS ChemStation may not be able to open Logbook files, either through the GUI or from the "View | Logbook" menu item. The inability to open Logbook files has been traced to an incorrect Manufacturing Date entry on the LC/MS instrument SmartCard.
Temporary Solution:
As a workaround fix, the Logbook file can be opened independently from ChemStation as a text file: in the Windows Explorer environment, browse to the C:\Chem32\1\TEMP directory and open the INSTR1.LOG file.
Fix Information:
To correct this issue, ensure that the LC/MS instrument SmartCard has the proper Manufacturing Date encoded in the proper format - an Agilent representative may be required to complete this task. Fiixed in C.01.03

One-line Description:

Incorrect Polarity Switch Delay parameter listed in ACQ.TXT

Problem:
The Polarity Switch Delay parameter is incorrectly recorded in the ACQ.TXT file that is generated with the run. Only the default parameter of 50 msec is shown for 6130, 6140 and 6150 systems. This gives the impression that the method values are being ignored.
However, when Hyperterminal was used to query the "MPST" value directly, it was found that the correct Polarity Switch Delay value was being used. Therefore, the correct Polarity Switch Delay parameter is being used during acquition; the recorded value is simply incorrect.
