Cause: In the A.05.XX (and older) Chemstation, the VWD Wavelength Accuracy test evaluates the caffeine spectrum from 230nm to 290nm. Within this spectral range, caffeine has a minimum at 244.3nm, and one maximum at 272.2nm. This agrees with the default minimum and maximum wavelength settings defined in the Standard VWD Wavelength Accuracy test SPECIALS screen. In the A.06.01 Chemstation, the caffeine spectrum is evaluated beginning at 190nm. This is because the Enhanced OQ/PV Wavelength Accuracy test is also searching for a second caffeine spectrum maximum at 205nm, as well as for the maximum at 272.2nm. The Enhanced OQ/PV Wavelength Accuracy test SPECIALS screen defines these two wavelength maxima, so this When the Standard VWD Wavelength Accuracy test is run on the A.06.01 Chemstation, the 205nm caffeine maximum is detected first. When this maximum is compared with the single default Wavelength at max[nm] setting of 272.2, the failure occurs. Temporary solution: When setting up the Standard VWD Accuracy test, click the SPECIALS button. The default minimum and maximum wavelength settings defined for the caffeine spectrum are: Wavelength at min[nm]: 244.3 Wavelength at max[nm]: 272.2 Change the Wavelength at max[nm] to 205. While you are in the SPECIALS screen, add a comment indicating that you have made this change. Run the test. See service note 01100-029 for a detailed description.
