A single archive contains all required files. After extracting the files an installation macro must be executed. The Color Calculations mode then allows to setup color and color difference calculations in various color systems like CIE Lab, CIE Luv, Hunter Lab,...' Revision History ---------------- 1. A.06.xx original version, Color Mode Rev. 3.1 Contribution Purpose -------------------- Spectral data can be used to calculate color values in various color systems using a single instrument only. The Agilent/HP spectrophotometer can be used very easily for quick color measurements and for color comparison. In addition reflectance accessories are available from Labsphere Inc. for the 8453 to measure sample surfaces. Contribution Structure ---------------------- The following files ... 1. Color.exe, an archive containing all files for installation. 2. Umacinit.mac, macro file for automatic installation 3. Setup.exe Setup program for the Math Program for Trigonometric Functions 3. Setup.lst Setup script file 4. Math1.cab Setup file container 1 5. Math2.cab Setup file container 2 The archive contains the following files and directories ... 1. Codefmet.m, default method of color mode 2. Coload.mcx, macro file for color mode load 3. Color.reg, mode administration register file 4. Covario.mcx, macro file for color calculations functionality 5. Install.mac, macro file for color mode installation 6. Remove.mac, macro file for color mode removal 7. Uvco1000.frp, color mode report template for method 8. Uvco2000.frp, color mode report template for results 9. 1024, directory for color GUI files 10. Col_smp.ini GUI file 11. Colorbar.ini GUI file 12. 800, directory for color GUI files 13. Col_smp.ini GUI file 14. Colorbar.ini GUI file Prerequisites ------------- - Windows XP and Windows VISTA as supported by the revision of the UV ChemStation in use - The UV ChemStation software, Rev B.01.xx, B.02.xx Installation ------------ * Extract all files from the color.exe archive by executing it (double click in the Explorer on the file). Specify a folder to unzip the files. You best use a floppy (e.g. A:) as destination. After execution you should have all files as described above. * If you have the ADVANCED mode installed: - switch on the command line - run the 'INSTALL.MAC'. If your files are on drive 'A' you type on the command line e.g.: MACRO A:\INSTALL.MAC * If you have no ADVANCED mode installed: - copy the 'UMACINIT.MAC' file from macro contribution #5 and the 'INSTALL.MAC' macro of the extracted files to the ChemStation's user macro directory. E.g.: COPY D:\UCL\UV_UCL\MACROS\5\UMACINIT.MAC,C:\CHEM32\UVEXE\USERMAC COPY A:\INSTALL.MAC,C:\CHEM32\UVEXE\USERMAC - Start your UV-Visible ChemStation. - To start the installation you type in the 'Source Path' (if it is different from the default A:) and press OK. The 'UMACINIT.MAC' will be removed automatically and all color mode files loaded. * Run the Setup Program for the Installation of the 'Math Program for Trigonometric Functions' by double clicking on the Setup.exe program. * After restarting your ChemStation, an additional mode: Color Calculations is available. Operation Overview ------------------ The Color Calculations mode shows a graphical user interface which allows to select the Illuminant, the Observer and the Color System. After a change an automatic recalculation of the displayed results is performed. The color calculations results of only a single sample are displayed. But all samples measured or loaded from disk are in memory. A selection box allows to switch the display to the sample of interest. For color difference calculations, a standard can be selected. In addition to the standard's color values, color difference values are calculated. Multiple standards can be in the ChemStations memory, but only the selected standard is used for difference calculation. The method's 'Setup Calculation' dialog allows to set the calculation range. The maximum range is 300 to 830 nm. Also Illuminant and Observer can be set here. A method report show's you all calculation equations used with the current color system. The color system to be evaluated can be directly selected using the 'Method' menu. The current selection is indicated with a check mark. For all samples a results report can be generated showing the color values and -if a standard is available- in addition the color difference values. The report layout for method and results reports can be changed using the 'Edit Style' button of the 'File' menu's 'Setup Report' command. Sample and Standard measurements are done using the 'Sample' and 'Standard' buttons or the items of the measure menu. Due to the maximum calculation range, the 'Spectrophotometer Parameters' can be set to a wavelength range of 300 to 830 nm for data reduction. If the measurement data shall be used for other evaluations as well a different range maybe used. For color calculations data must be available in the calculation range set. If the data interval specified for color calculation is less than the interval acquired, the missing data are interpolated.
