If you get a "black screen" trying to boot your Dell after reflashing the BIOS:

1) Power down the computer and disconnect the external power supply from the computer.

2) Press the power button for at least 5 seconds to drain remaining power.

3) Remove the PSWD jumper.  You may have to search your motherboard to find it.
   (On the R5500 it's back under the tangle of power supply wires.
    You may need a needlenose plier to get hold of it as well as the RTCRST location.)

4) Use the PSWD jumper, put it on the RTCRST jumper for 5 seconds.

5) Put the jumper back on the PSWD pins.

6) Plug the power cable into the computer.

7) Turn on the computer.
