Introduction This document describes the objectives, copyright, operation, and command reference of the software so-called g DX-1h. 1.1 Objectives of this software This software provides a flexible test sequence remote controlled from PC using the E6392B GSM MS test set. 1.2 Function overview The test sequence is defined in a text file that is called gsequence fileh that has a file extension of g.seqh. The sequence file needs to be generated in advance by using any text editor and to be placed under the adequate directory on the PC system. The commands available in the sequence file are defined at the end of this document. All results will be write into the text file. ---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 2. System Requirements Here are the system configurations we recommend. We tested the software executioon only on the following system configuration. 2.1 Hardware Requirements - PC system hardware: A desktop PC or a note PC equipped with one serial port - Instruments: Agilent E6392B GSM MS Test Set - Cables: A serial cable for RS232 (cross) 2.2 PC System Requirements - For the desktop PC: - HP Kayak XA (Pentium CPU, Memory 98Mbyte) - Hard disk space: > 50 MByte - Operating system: Windows NT4.0 - For the note PC: - HP Omnibook 800CT / 900 - Hard disk space: > 50 M Byte - Display: SVGA (800 x 600) or higher - Operating system: Windows 95/98 2.4 System Connection Assumption: an operating system has already installed into the PC system. 1) Connect all cables as shown in Fig 1. ---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 3. DX-1 Installation Install the DX-1 software according to the following steps: You will find the files below after installation. Under the directory of C:\Program Files\DX-1 DX-1.exe : DX-1 program UsersGuide.doc : User's Guide HowtoMakeSeq.txt : Guide for making Sequence File TestXXXXX.seq.. : Sequence Files Note: If DX-1 is provided in floppy disks. Please create a new folder in your hard disk drive and copy all contains of floppy into the folder. (If you execute Setup.exe in floppy disk, it will take longer time to install DX-1 than the time when you execute it in the hard disk.) 1) Close all other applications on the PC. 2) Point at the [Start] and [Run..] menu of the Windows, and select the Setup.exe in the folder containing the file obtained from the Internet Web and decompressed. Click on [Browse..] as required, and search for the file. In the case of a floppy disk, put the first disk in the drive, and select the Setup.exe in the floppy disk according to the same procedure. (To make setup floppy disks, see the next section "If you would like to install from floppy disks".) 3) Click on [OK], and the Setup Program will run. 4) Follow the instructions indicated in the drawing. 5) After completing the setup, point at the [Programs] of the [Start] menu, and make sure that the Agilent E6392 group is registered. ---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+
