The HP 35653C provides the excitation signals needed for a wide variety of stimulus/response measurements. It provides random, burst random, fixed sine, and step function outputs. The various excitation signals are band limited and band translated to concentrate the source energy in the analysis band.

The HP 35653C has an independent capability of generating and sending a short pseudo random sequence to the analog calibration bus for multiple frequency (flatness) verifications.
