HP 70871A Scalar Personality

[ Summary ][ Features ][ Key Literature ][ Ordering ][ Assistance ][ Related ]
The HP 70871A scalar personality adds automatic measurement routines for component testing with the HP 70000 system. This personality orchestrates the test process and guides the operator through the measurement.

The signal-mode portion of the personality includes spur-search and harmonic-distortion routines. Spur search lists the frequency and amplitude of any spurious signal meeting specified criteria. The harmonic-distortion routine measures the fundamental and its second and third harmonics, as well as the harmonic-distortion percentage-all with a single keystroke.

The scalar-mode operation of the personality provides a dedicated scalar-analyzer interface and high-level routines to simplify stimulus-response measurements. Gain or loss, device bandwidth, rejection, and return-loss can be displayed vs. frequency. Sequences for transmission through calibration and a reflection open/short calibration are included. To simplify filter characterization, high leveltest routines measure 3 dB bandwid th, Q, and shape factor with a single keystroke. Limit lines provide a simple PASS or FAIL test.
