The HP E1430A high-resolution digitizer is a C-size, 1-slot, register- based VXI module that can analyze spectra or capture transients, digitize IFs or record waveforms. The module includes DSP-based real time digital filtering with digital LO and large FIFO memories.

The digitizer used in this module is a two-pass (or sub-ranging) type that provides 23 bits of raw resolution. The digitizer in the E1430A has low distortion with a noise density of -136 dBfs/Hz and a noise figure of 15 dB.

The module comes with multistage digital filters built in with a maximum information bandwidth of 4 MHz. A high-speed 8 MB memory captures transients or acts as a FIFO for continuous digitizing during the block-mode data transfers used by some DSP algorithms. Data transfer is over the VXI data path and the high speed Local Bus (40 Mbytes/sec).

Input impedance: 50 ohms, >40 dB return loss, 4 MHz, DC coupled.


Accuracy

Resolution: 23 bits
Absolute voltage measurements: ±0.03 dB (DC coupled, f<100 kHz, decimation filters off, 
	±1V range, 25°C, analog anti-alias filter on)
Range accuracy: ±0.03 dB (relative to ±1 V range for all ranges, f <100 kHz)
Temperature drift: <0.001 dB per °C of deviation from 25°C


Dynamic Range

Harmonic distortion: <-110 dBfs or -80 dBc, whichever is greater (with additional signal 
	applied >-20 dBfs)
Spurious signals: <-110 dBfs, using internal clock (includes alias products)


Clock

ADC clock sources: internal, external BNC input compatible with TTL, ECL, and >-6 dBm sinewaves
ADC clock accuracy: ±70 Hz (Internal 10 MHz; 0°C to 40°C)


Trigger

Sources: external TTL with ±slope select, ADC output, signal magnitude, software initiated, 
	immediate
Trigger delay: -1,048,575 to 8,388,607 samples


Filtering

Anti-alias filter: 4 MHz
Filtering and decimation: 25 baseband spans, octave steps
Zoom: digital LO tunes the center frequency of any filter span with better than 10 µHz 
	resolution


Programming

Output data formats: 16-bit and 32-bit real, 16-bit and 32-bit complex
Data output modes: VME data transfers, high-speed Local Bus
Measurement modes: block and continuous
Read registers: mfr./model, logical address, status bits, measurement loop status
Data interrupt: two independent priority interrupts initiated by masked status bits
Memory: 8 MB (4 MSa, 16 bits), FIFO


Backplane Connector Shielding

To ensure compliance with RFI levelsspecified in standards EN55001 and
CISPR11, this product requires the backplane connector shields installed
in an HP VXI C-size mainframe.  Option 918 is available with the
purchase of a new mainframe; accessories, HP P/Ns E1400-80920 and
E1421-80920 (one kit per mainframe), are available for retrofitting
existing HP mainframes HP E1401A/B and HP E1421A, respectively.
