HP E1572B C-SCPI Development for HP-UX/700 |
Compiled SCPI is a performance enhancing programming tool used with VXI systems employing register-based modules. C-SCPI is based on the industry-standard SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments). With C-SCPI, programs are written in C using the instruments' SCPI command set. The C program is then run through a preprocessor, an ANSI C compiler, that converts the high-level SCPI commands to the appropriate low-level binary commands. The ease of use of SCPI programming and the speed of register-based modules are both maintained.
The HP E1572B Compiled SCPI program is supported on Series 700 standalone and VXI embedded workstations. HP-UX 9.x or 10.x is supported on both workstation configurations. Also supported are the HP E1489C EISA/ISA-to-MXIbus interface, and the HP B2354A ANSI C Developer Bundle.
The HP E1582B is the license-to-run version of the HP E1572B. Its purchase requires the previous purchase of the HP E1572B. With HP's adoptionof the VXIplug&play Systems Alliance driver technology, C-SCPI will be supported only on VXI modules introduced before 1996.
Note: Migration to VXIplug&play Drivers With the development of VXIplug&play standards, HP has moved from C-SCPI technology to VXIplug&play. We encourage you to move to this new technology. Because it may be inconvenient to make this move in the short term, HP has added HP-UX 10.01 support for existing C-SCPI software.
