HP E2465A Preprocessor Interface for the PowerPC 604 Microprocessor |
The HP E2465A preprocessor interface allows easy connection of an
HP logic analyzer to your PowerPC 604 target system so you can trace
processor activity in real-time, nonintrusively. Software provided
with the preprocessor automatically configures the logic analyzer
for use with the preprocessor. The software also includes an inverse
assembler, which gives you PowerPC 604 mnemonics in the trace
listing for easy correlation between captured data and target code.

Microprocessor | Package | Maximum Clock Speed |
Motorola PowerPC 604 | 289-pin PGA | 66 MHz | IBM PowerPC 604 | 289-pin PGA | 66 MHz |
The HP E2465A preprocessor interface has a Pin Grid Array (PGA) footprint. The connector on the preprocessor interface plugs directly into the PGA socket on the target system. To connect the preprocessor, remove the PowerPC 604 chip from the target system and plug it into the socket on the preprocessor interface. Then, plug the preprocessor interface into the target's socket. Note: the PowerPC is not keyed, so caution must be used when positioning the chip in the target.
For easy extraction, it is strongly recommended that a pin protector be placed on the PowerPC 604 chip before inserting it into the target socket.
The preprocessor supports normal, Fast-L2, and direct store modes.
None
All analysis probes are terminated on the preprocessor. No additional termination adapters are required.

These configurations show the number of analysis cards needed in the mainframe. Each card has analysis pods and probes, which connect to high-density termination adapters on the preprocessor. Eight 16-channel analyzer pods are the minimum required to perform inverse assembly and monitor all signals from the processor.
The HP E2465A has a JTAG connector on board for easy connection to the PowerPC's JTAG port. This connector also can be used to connect a run control tool, such as a processor probe.
This Hewlett-Packard product has a warranty against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from date of shipment. During the warranty period, Hewlett-Packard will, at its option, either repair or replace products that prove to be defective.
