Product Summary

Interference threatens the continued growth of radio communications in two ways: in existing installations, capacity is diminished, increasing error rates and disrupting base station operation; and new systems have difficulty finding interference-free bands in which to operate. The HP E4900B spectrum monitoring system can efficiently detect interference and manage frequency assignments for telecommunications service providers, regulatory agencies, hospitals, civil aviation authorities, and the military. The system is based on an HP spectrum analyzer and includes Microsoft Windows-based software running on an HP Omnibook laptop PC. The HP E4900B provides a variety of measurement tools to characterize the RF spectrum, such as multiple-band signal logging, spectral occupancy statistics, and optional demodulation and recording. A set of coordination tools, including task scheduling for around-the-clock, unattended operation and alarms for tracking intermittent signals, can greatly increase productivity. Data can be summarized with over a dozen standard reports, including signal logs, spectral occupancy, carrier analysis, and system and alarm logs. Customized reports can also be created by exporting data to popular spreadsheets and word processors.
