The HP E6271A MPEGscope ATM Test Application is the industry's first real-time MPEG-2 transport stream analysis system for ATM -- the HP E6271A runs on the industry standard HP Broadband Series Test System designed for ATM & B-ISDN transmission and services testing for R&D engineering, field trials, commissioning, automated conformance and regression testing. Even small error rates in MPEG-2 transport streams can result in unacceptable video quality for the end-user. This means that equipment manufacturers, R&D labs, and service providers need powerful testing capabilities to ensure that their equipment and networks perform flawlessly.

The HP E6271A MPEGscope ATM Test Application allows you to perform critical MPEG-2 transport stream analysis in real-time, eliminating the hours required to capture, save and then analyze data via post-processing test applications.

The TS Monitor allows you to check the general status of the MPEG-2 transport stream at a glance. The virtual LEDs provide a quick pass/fail indication on some of the more obvious problems that can occur. If TS Monitor errors are occurring, you can set up the tester to trigger on any of the indicators.

To make monitoring PSI tables easy, the MPEGscope ATM automatically generates the display using the PSI table information in the stream. The display provides an intuitive view of the elements in the MPEG-2 transport stream. If there is an error in a PSI table, the table turns red to indicate a problem, in real-time!

Real time statistical measurements are based on a user-controlled integration period which has a range of 1 second to 48 hours. Buttons along the bottom of the main control panel provide quick access to key MPEG-2 measurements including PCR statistics, PID utilization, PID bandwidth and TS header statistics.

To determine if proper the bandwidth is being used in each channel, you can use the HP MPEGscope ATM's PID Bandwidth statistics measurement. You can log bandwidth measurement results to a file and set up triggers on bandwidth thresholds.

TSP Header Statistics provide real-time measurements on some of the more critical fields in the TS header. These statistics provide an indication of the quality of service at the MPEG-2 transport layer.
