Before you start the upgrade procedure, make sure you back up all user generated files since the upgrade process might delete them. Scenario 2-The analyzer is networked to the E5200A opt 050 PC (PC), and a CD-ROM drive is connected to the PC. To Prepare for a Scenario 1 Upgrade ----------------------------------- Before you perform a Scenario 1 upgrade, you must ensure the CD-ROM is mounted on your Unix file system. You must also add a hostname/IP Address pair to the analyzer's host table. To add a hostname/IP address pair to the analyzer's host table - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1 At your Unix workstation, type telnet 23 to log in to the analyzer. is the analyzer's network IP Address. The login prompt appears. 2 Enter your user name and password. The default is * user boomer * password broadband 3 Type saf at the prompt to start the SAF (System and Administration Function) application. 4 Type 5; then press Enter to display the, "Remote Host Management" screen. 5 Enter the hostname and IP address of the Unix workstation to which the CD-ROM will be mounted. 6 Type 0, then press Enter to return to the SAF Main Menu. 7 Type 0, then press Enter to exit SAF. To Prepare for a Scenario 2 Upgrade ----------------------------------- Before you perform a Scenario 2 upgrade, you must ensure a valid FTP user exists within the E5200A Opt 050 PC's Acadia/VxD configuration. To create a valid FTP user within the E5200A Opt 050 PC's Acadia/VxD configuration 1 Double-click on the "Configuration" icon within the windows "HP Broadband Analyzer" program group. 2 From the Category menu of the Acadia/VxD window, click "User Authorization". 3 Click in the User field within the Acadia/VxD window and type UPGRADE. 4 Click in the Password field and enter a password of your choice to associate with the user UPGRADE. 5 Click in the Home Directory field and enter the drive designator letter of the attached CD-ROM drive and root directory, for example, D:\ ------- N O T E ------- Is is important that the drive designator letter of the home directory matches the drive designator of the attached CD-ROM drive. ------- 6 Click Save; then click OK to exit the Acadia/VxD configuration utility. ============================================ Part 1-Upgrading Software to Version A.01.70 ============================================ ------- N O T E ------- Part 1 takes approximately one hour. ------- 1 Log in to the analyzer via the PC by double clicking on the "HP Analyzer Terminal" Icon within the "HP Broadband Analyzer" program group. OR on your Unix workstation, type telnet 23 where is the analyzer's network IP Address. 2 When the Login screen appears, enter your user name and password. The default is * user boomer * password broadband 3 Type version at the prompt (%). Look at the version numbers. a) If the OS Version numbers are less than gkA.01.09 pkA.01.09 skA.01.09, go to"Part 4-Upgrading the Kernel" on page\x1115, then return here and go to step 4. b) If the OS Version numbers are greater than gkA.01.09 pkA.01.09 skA.01.09 go to step 4. 4 Type saf at the prompt, to start the SAF (System and Administration Function) application. 5 Type 3; then press Enter to display the "Upgrade Software" screen. 6 Type 2; then press Enter to display the "Upgrade Software Using an FTP Site" screen. 7 When prompted, enter "Hostname to FTP to" .................... the Unix workstation's hostname that has the CD-ROM mounted on its local file system, OR E5200APC if the CD-ROM is connected to the PC. "User Name on Remote Host" .......................... a valid user name on the Unix workstation that has read access to the mounted CD-ROM, O R UPGRADE if the CD-ROM is connected to the PC. "Password on Remote Host" ......................... the password associated with the User Name on Remote Host you entered in the previous prompt. "Path for Installation Software" ................................ /FTPIMAGE if the CD-ROM is mounted on a Unix workstation, OR D:/FTPIMAGE if the CD-ROM is connected to the PC as drive D. ------- N O T E ------- The CD-ROM, when connected to the E5200A Opt 050 PC, might be configured as a drive designator other than D. If so, type the appropriate drive designator letter in the Path for Installation Software prompt above. ------- After entering the above information, the message "Copying Files" displays, to indicate the upgrade has commenced. At the end of the upgrade, the message "Upgrade Complete" displays. 8 Type 0; then press Enter to return to the SAF Main Menu. 9 Type 0; then press Enter to exit from SAF. 10 Type exit at the % prompt to exit. 11 Switch the power switch on the right hand side of the service analyzer to the off position. Wait for five seconds, then switch to the on position. Wait for the green LED on the analyzer front panel to stop flashing. 12 Log in to the analyzer via the PC by double clicking on the "HP Analyzer Terminal" Icon within the "HP Broadband Analyzer" program group. OR on your Unix workstation, type telnet 23 where is the analyzer's network IP Address. 13 When the Login screen appears, enter your user name and password. The default is * user boomer * password broadband 14 Type version at the prompt. Look at the Application Version number. It should be Application Version A.01.70 If the Application Version number matches the above number you have successfully completed Part 1of this upgrade. ========================================= Part 2-Backing Up the Analyzer's Software ========================================= ------- N O T E ------- Part 2 takes approximately one hour. ------- After completing the upgrade you need to back up the service analyzer's software onto the PC or onto a Unix workstation. The backup copy of software provides an alternate book source in the event of the analyzer's hard disk failing so that * continued operation (although with degraded performance) is possible * you can mount ad restore the hard disk A backup source for restoration of system files. To Back Up the Analyzer to a Unix Workstation --------------------------------------------- 1 Type /etc/mount :/IDE to mount the analyzer's file system on to the Unix workstation. is the analyzer's network IP Address. 2 Type /bin/copy -R //usr/usr to recursive copy the analyzer's file system onto the unix workstation's file system. To Back Up the Analyzer to the PC --------------------------------- 1 Double-click on the "NFS Client" icon within the "HP Broadband Analyzer" program group. 2 Type E5200A:/IDE as the network path. 3 Click Connect. This connects the service analyzer's hard disk to the PC as drive G: or the next available drive. 4 Click Close. 5 Double-click on the File Manager icon. 6 Rename C:\USR directory to C:\USR_OLD. 7 Copy the G:\USR directory to C:\USR. This takes approximately half an hour. 8 Close the File Manager. ================================= Part 3-Installing the Online Help ================================= ------- N O T E ------- Part 3 takes approximately five minutes. ------- Install the online help when you receive a new version of the analyzer software. To Install the Online Help on a PC ---------------------------------- You can install the analyzer online help on any PC with Windows version 3.1 or later. ------- N O T E ------- Please refer to Upgrading to Version A.01.70 Using Floppy Diskettes (p/n E5200-90003) if you want to install online help on a PC using floppy diskettes. ------- 1 Insert the Broadband Service Analyzer Software Installation Disk in the CD-ROM drive attached to the notebook PC. 2 From the File menu, select Run. 3 Type D:\HELP\WIN\SETUP to install the help files from CD-ROM. 4 Click OK. 5 Follow the instructions on the screen. 6 Restart Windows. After you restart Windows, three help icons (one for each help volume), and a readme file icon appear in the HP Broadband Analyzer program group. To Install the Online Help on a Workstation ------------------------------------------- If you have HP-UX superuser permission, you can install the analyzer help on an HP series 700 workstation running HP-UX 9.05. ------- N O T E ------- This installation modifies the /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/services files. To highlight an option you want to select in the HP-UX update utility, use the arrow keys to highlight the option; then press either Enter or F4. -------- 1 Type /bin/mkdir /cdrom /etc/mount /cdrom to mount the CD-ROM onto your file system. See your system administrator if you are unsure of the CD-ROM device file name. 2 Type /etc/update to run the HP-UX update utility. The update utility Main Menu is displayed. 3 Select "Change Source or Destination". The Change Source or Destination window displays. 4 Select "From Tape Device to Local System" as the Update from Source to Destination. The From Tape Device to Local System window displays. 5 In the Source field, type /cdrom/HELP/HYPHELP/HELP.PKG 6 Press F4. The Main Menu re-displays. 7 Select "All Filesets on the Source Media". The Select All Filesets on the Source Media window displays. 8 Select "Start Loading Now". A message window is displayed asking you whether you want to "Start loading filesets now?" 9 Type y. The Loading Partitions and Filesets window displays. This window indicates the progress of the installation. The help package is installed in the /OPT/E5200A/ directory. 10 When the installation is complete, view the log file to check for errors in the installation. At the # prompt type more /tmp/update.log. 11 Errors are displayed at the end of the file. If there are errors, correct the problem, type rmfn in a terminal window, then reinstall the help. 12 Type cd / /etc/umount /cdrom to unmount the CD-ROM from your file system. 13 To print help topics, set up the current printer for the help viewer using the Printer Setup option in the File menu. For more information see the How to use Help option in the Help menu in the help viewer. ------- N O T E ------- See the Broadband Service Analyzer User's Guide and User Online Help for details on how to use User Online Help, Macro Online Help, and UPE Compatibility Online Help. ------- =========================== Part 4-Upgrading the Kernel =========================== ------- N O T E ------- Part 4 takes approximately five minutes. ------- 1 Insert the HP Broadband Service Analyzer Software Installation Disk into the CD-ROM drive connected to the PC or workstation. 2 If connected to a workstation, mount the CD-ROM file system on the local workstation file system. For example, type /bin/mkdir /cdrom /etc/mount /cdrom 3 On your PC, double-click the "HP Analyzer Terminal" Icon within the "HP Broadband Analyzer" program group to log in to the service analyzer. OR on your Unix workstation, type telnet 23, where is the E5200A's network IP Address. 4 When the Login screen appears, enter your user name and password. The default is * user boomer * password broadband 5 Type version at the prompt (%).
