When the Login screen appears, enter your user name and password. The default is * user boomer * password broadband 2 Type version at the prompt. Look at the version numbers and compare them o the numbers below. a) If the OS Version numbers are less than gkA.01.09 pkA.01.09 skA.01.09, go to"Part 4-Upgrading the Kernel" on page\x118, then return here and go to step 3. b) If the OS Version numbers are greater than gkA.01.09 pkA.01.09 skA.01.09 you do not need to upgrade the kernel. Go to step 3. 3 Type saf at the prompt to Start the SAF (System and Administration Function) application. 4 Type 3; then press Enter to display the "Upgrade Software" screen. 5 Type 1; then press Enter to display the "Upgrade Software Using Diskettes"screen. 6 Insert disk 1 of 9 of the "Upgrade software version A.01.70" disks. Follow the instructions given by SAF. Each disk takes approximately two minutes, after which the upgrade process takes approximately one hour. At the end of the upgrade, the message "Upgrade Complete" appears. 7 Type 0; then press Enter to return to the SAF Main Menu. 8 Type 0; then press Enter to exit from SAF. 9 Type exit at the prompt to exit. ------- N O T E ------- Remember to remove the floppy disk. ------- 10 Switch the power switch on the right hand side of the service analyzer t the off position. Wait for five seconds, then switch to the on position. Wait for the green LED on the analyzer front panel to stop flashing. 11 On the PC, double-click the "HP Analyzer Terminal" Icon within the "HP Broadband Analyzer" program group to log in to the service analyzer. When the Login screen appears, enter your user name and password. The default is * user boomer * password broadband 12 Type version at the prompt. Look at the Application Version number. It should be Application Version A.01.70 If the Application Version number matches the above you have successfully completed Part 1 of this upgrade. ========================================= Part 2-Backing Up the Analyzer's Software ========================================= ------- N O T E ------- Part 2 takes approximately one hour. ------- After completing the upgrade you need to backup the service analyzer's software to the PC. The backup copy of software provides an alternate boot source in the event of the analyzer's hard disk failing so that * continued operation (although with degraded performance) is possible * you can mount and restore the hard disk. The backup also provides a backup source for restoring system files. 1 Double-click on the "NFS Client" icon within the "HP Broadband Analyzer" Program group. 2 Enter the network path as E5200A:/IDE 3 Click Connect. This connects the service analyzer's hard disk to the PC asdrive G: or the next available drive. 4 Click Close. 5 Double-click the File Manager icon. 6 Rename C:\USR directory to C:\USR_OLD. 7 Copy the G:\USR directory to C:\USR. This takes approximately half an ho 8 Close the File Manager. ============================== Part 3-Install the Online Help ============================== ------- N O T E ------- Part 3 takes approximately five minutes. ------- See Upgrading to Version A.01.70 using CD-ROM (p/n E5200-90004) if you want to install online help using a CD-ROM. Install the online help whenever you receive a new version of service analyzer sotware. The online help is contained on floppy diskettes. You can install the analyzer online help on any PC with Windows version 3.1 or later. 1 Insert the Help for Windows diskette 1 (p/n E5200-10017) in drive A. 2 From the File menu, select Run. 3 Type A:\setup to install the help files from the diskettes. 4 Click OK. 5 Follow the instructions on the screen. 6 Restart Windows Three help icons (one for each help volume) and a readme file icon appear in the HP Broadband Analyzer program group. ------- N O T E ------- See the Broadband Service Analyzer User's Guide and User Online Help for details on how to use User Online Help, Macro Online Help, and UPE Compatibility nline Help. ------- =========================== Part 4-Upgrading the Kernel =========================== ------- N O T E ------- Part 1 takes approximately five minutes. -------- 1 On the PC, double-click the "HP Analyzer Terminal" Icon within the "HP Broadband Service Analyzer" program group to log in to the service analyzer. At the end of the upgrade, the message "Upgrade Complete" displays. 8 Type 0; then press Enter to return to the SAF Main Menu. 9 Type 0; then press Enter to exit from SAF. 10 Type exit at the prompt to exit. ------- N O T E ------- Remember to remove the floppy disk. ------- 11 Switch the power switch on the right hand side of the service analyzer to the off position.
