VXI Command Modules

A command module manages the communications between its built-in HP-IB and RS-232 interfaces and an external system controller. It also translates commands for register-based VXI devices--which makes them as easy to program as message-based devices. If youre using a Series 300 controller or an external PC or Series 700 controller connected to the mainframe via HP-IB, you need to use a command module (or the HP E1300A/E1301A mainframe with embedded command module). If you are using a VXI embedded controller , VXLink, or EISA/ISA-to-MXIbus interface you dont need a command module.
