Communism In Popular Race Relations Literature

Most people are completely unaware of the vast Jewish communist influence in the literature they read. This is particularly true in the field of "poor, persecuted Negro literature". Alan Wald in a superb essay: "Between Insularity and Internationalism: The Lost World of the Jewish Communist Cultural Worker's in America" (Dark Times, Dire Decisions: Jews and Communism/Studies in Contemporary Jewry Annual 20, edited by Jonathan Frankel and Dan Diner) documents the overflowing Jewish red infatuation with the theme of "racial brotherhood". A prominent Jewish communist poet of the depression era was Aaron Kramer who wrote frequently for the Communist New Pioneer magazine.
He was a defender of the black communist Angelo Herndon and wrote one of his most famous poems on the Scottsboro case of 1950. As Wald notes, communism held great appeal for Jews starting in the 1930s literary world. The number of radical Jews operating in the theatrical domain in those years was legion. They included the playwright Michael Gold who wrote Jews Without Money, Clifford Odets who wrote The Lost World of the Jewish Communist Cultural Worker's in America (Dark Times, Dire Decisions: Jews and Communism/Studies in Contemporary Jewry Annual 20, edited by Jonathan Frankel and Dan Diner) documents the overflowing Waiting For Lefty, Lillian Hellman who scripted Little Foxes and Watch On The Rhine, Nelson Algren (or Abraham) who created The Man With The Golden Arm, Irwin Shaw (Shamforoff) who wrote left wing stories during the Depression before scoring big with The Young Lions (later made into a movie with Marlon Brando and James Mason), Howard Fast, the Jewish communist who later coscripted Spartacus with Hollywood Ten member Dalton Trumbo and the communist fellow traveler Jew, Norman Mailer, who gained popular success with his novel of the Pacific war, The Naked And The Dead. When these Jews were not cranking out anti-capitalist propaganda propaganda on behalf of blacks was their second favorite theme. The Party's expert on the "Negro Question" was Sol Auerbach aka "Jim Allen" who posthumously published A Communist's Memoir: Organizing In The Depression South. Another bleed for the blacks Jewish communist was Ben Burns (born Bernstein in 1913) who founded the black magazine Ebony in New York in1945. An even more prominent Jewish communist race agitator was Leonard Zinberg, better known by the alias he later used as a mystery novelist- Ed Lacy. Two of Red Ed's more famous novels were Walk Hard-Talk Loud about a black boxer in love with a black communist activist.
The other was Hold With The Hares, an anti-fascist novel where the hero fights Jim Crow laws in the American south. Zinberg's later detective novels frequently featured black protagonists and race mixing themes. Still another Jewish red writing under an assumed name was Earl Conrad aka Earl Cohen. He wrote a famous novel in 1952, Rock Bottom, which was deliberately calculated to inflame public opinion against whites as the cause of black oppression. For those who can remember their college education he wrote a famous 1966 book The Invention of the Negro, blaming all black failings on whites, naturally. As Wald notes in his authoritatively documented essay there were many other Jews involved in this "bleed for the blacks" agit prop. He names some of them: David Alman, Guy Endore (Samuel Goldstein), Vera Caspary, Ben Appel, John Sanford (Julian Shapiro),etc.
It should come as no surprise that Jewish communists and Jews generally have been so deeply involved in race relations literature. Jews have predominated at all levels of race relations activity ever since the Hungarian Jewish communist, Joseph Pogany, (or Joseph Schwartz) laid out the Party's racial program for the United States in 1919. All the major civil rights organizations in America, from Julius Rosenwald's United Negro College Fund to the Arthur and Joel Spingarn created NAACP, have been Jewish created, financed and directed since the beginning. Jewish apologetic historians, like Alan Wald, always try to justify Jewish race relations agitation's by likening the suffering of blacks in white America to the suffering of the Jews in Czarist Russia. That the Jewish "social conscience" displays no such concern for the Arabs of Palestine is conveniently left unexplained. It is simply inconceivable to the average media indoctrinated American that the "ideas" which are spoon fed to him have very sinister and unsavory origins.
Documenting the Jewish communist origins of these ideas and their proliferation throughout the popular culture is very easy to document. It is no more difficult than documenting the communist background and agenda of Franz Boas and Ashley Montagu, two prominent anthropologists of yesteryear who provided the pseudoscientific basis of the fiction of racial equality, yet privately they thought Jews were superior to blacks. Getting the facts out is easy; getting the public to understand them remains the eternal problem.
